Product marketing as a service: what it costs and how it works.

Ways to work

Two ways to work together.

Most work starts with a scoped project: a defined piece of work with a clear outcome, and it can start quickly. For ongoing ownership, I join your team for at least two days a week.

Fractional or interim · from 2 days a week

Embedded / Fractional

Senior product marketing ownership inside your team, working with product, sales and leadership.

€960 per day$1,060 per day

What that comes to

What that comes to
2 days a weekAbout €8,300 a month$9,200
3 days a weekAbout €12,500 a month$13,800
  • Minimum 3 months, typically 6
  • Stop after month one if it isn’t the right fit

Why not one day a week? Spread that thin, product marketing stalls: every step waits a week for the next. Smaller pieces of work move faster as a scoped project.

Scoped Projects

Need help with a specific product marketing challenge? I take ownership of a defined piece of work, from figuring out what’s needed to creating and delivering the outcome.

From €7,500From $8,300 per project

Examples of scoped projects

  • Sharpening differentiation
  • Portfolio narrative
  • Repositioning after a market shift
  • ICP & segmentation
  • Validating a new proposition
  • Running a product launch
  • Positioning an AI product
  • Setting up product marketing

Not a fixed menu: every project is scoped to your situation.

  • Typically 4 to 10 weeks
  • Fixed price, agreed up front
Scope a project

All prices exclude VAT. Every engagement is scoped with you first, and you get a fixed proposal before anything starts.

Which one fits?

Both bring the same expertise. The difference is whether the work has a clear end, or needs someone in your team week after week.

Embedded / Fractional fits when…

  • The work is ongoing and runs across product, sales and marketing
  • You have a PMM gap, or need extra capacity for a while
  • A period of change needs someone owning it week to week
  • You want the work done inside the team, not handed over

A scoped project fits when…

  • The question is clear: your positioning, your ICP, a launch
  • There’s a defined outcome, and ideally a deadline
  • Your team can take the result forward itself
  • You want to start quickly, or try working together first

Not sure? A scoped project is a good first step. If there’s more to own afterwards, it can continue as embedded work.

What determines the total.

My day rate is fixed. What varies is how much time the work needs, and two companies asking for “positioning” can need very different amounts. These four things make the difference.

  • Days per week

On an embedded engagement, two or three days a week sets your monthly total. More days means more of the work I own myself, rather than guide your team through.

  • Scope and ownership

Advising on positioning takes less time than also owning the launch, the sales enablement and the stakeholder work around it.

  • Complexity

Several products, markets or buyer groups, or a recent acquisition, take more research and more alignment.

  • Timeline

A launch in five weeks needs more concentrated time than the same work spread over a quarter.

When to bring me in

Product marketing tends to become most valuable when something in the business is moving.

  1. You need more PMM firepower

The role has been open too long, or you need extra senior capacity for a launch, a new market or a team that’s stretched.

  2. “Why are you different?” is getting harder to answer

As AI makes features easier to replicate and markets louder, what makes you different gets harder to explain — and sales, marketing and local teams each end up telling it their own way.

  3. You’re making a significant GTM move

A new market, product launch or strategic shift needs more than a plan. I help turn it into a compelling market story, equip your teams and bring it to market.

  4. Moving beyond founder-led GTM

You've found traction. Now it's time to turn what's working in the founder's head into a clear, repeatable go-to-market approach that the wider team can execute.

Questions about pricing

What does a fractional product marketing consultant cost?

For senior B2B SaaS product marketing, expect roughly €900–€1,200 per day ($1,000–$1,350). With me, scoped projects start around €7,500, and embedded work is €960 a day, at two or three days a week. All prices exclude VAT.

What is PMM as a service?

Product marketing delivered by an external specialist instead of an employee. You get the positioning, launches and sales enablement work as a project or an ongoing engagement, without hiring for the role. Fractional PMM and freelance PMM are other names for the same model.

Can we start small?

Yes. A scoped project is a defined piece of work with a clear outcome and a fixed price, from €7,500. It’s a good way to see how we work together before committing to more.

Why don’t you work one day a week?

Because the work stalls. With a week between every step, momentum goes to catching up. Smaller pieces of work are better done as a scoped project; ongoing ownership needs at least two days a week to keep pace with the business.

What’s the minimum engagement?

For an embedded engagement: three months at two days a week, and most run for around six months. Scoped projects run for as long as their scope.

What if it isn’t working?

On an embedded engagement, you can stop after the first month. You pay for that month and nothing more.

Do you work with companies outside the Netherlands?

Yes. I work remotely with B2B SaaS teams wherever they’re based, and on-site in the Netherlands. For a kick-off or a key workshop, I’m happy to visit.

How is this different from a product marketing agency?

An agency sells capacity and deliverables. I bring one senior person who works inside your team, takes part in the decisions and owns the result, the way an in-house lead would.

Can a fractional PMM help us hire our first full-time product marketer?

Yes. Setting up the function first gives a future hire clear positioning, priorities and ways of working to step into. I did this at Aqqo, where I introduced product marketing and supported the hire that followed.

How do we get started?

With a short call about where the business is and what needs to move. After that, you get a proposal with the scope, the time involved and a fixed project or monthly price.

Let’s find the right scope.
